The Lucia Christmas Market at the Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg Gives You a Scandinavian Feeling with a Twist of Germany
The Lucia Christmas market at Kulturbrauerei is unique. Especially for someone like me from Denmark. The Christmas market has a Scandinavian theme, but even though I can have a sip of Swedish glögg and get invited to Danish ‘hygge’, I never really feel at home.
I would encourage you to visit the Christmas market anyway, because it’s something special.
Glögg is glowing red wine with almonds and raisins and is a tasty and delicious alternative to Glühwein at traditional German Christmas markets.
If you can’t get enough alcohol, one of the Swedish stands also serves Glühgin which is mulled gin. You might want to leave the car and take the U-Bahn home. Scandinavians are used to the strong stuff.
While we’re on the Swedish theme, you might want to try a Bratwurst with moose meat.
There’s so much Scandinavian food at the Lucia Christmas market that I’ve never heard of, and I’m from Scandinavia after all.
But at the end of the day, the Christmas market is German and everything has a German twist. Nevertheless, the food is an interesting taste experience that I would recommend.
However, I should warn you about Swedish licorice. They are very salty and if you are not from Scandinavia, they are a harsh taste experience. But Swedish licorice is my favorite. Always.
