Dark Matter Berlin

Dark Matter Berlin.

Dark Matter Berlin is an alternative museum featuring light and sound installations that stimulate the mind. Here you can actively immerse yourself in light

Behind Dark Matter Berlin is the German light and media artist Christopher Bauder. His large-scale installations explore how space, light, sound, and movement affect your senses.

There aren’t that many installations at Dark Matter Berlin, but there are benches, lounge chairs, and cushions, so you can take your time soaking in the experience at each installation.

Some of the installations are interactive and invite you to take a selfie. Other installations are designed so that you can climb all over them while streaks and waves of light wash over you.

There is also an installation where you can trigger various rhythmic sounds by touching the rungs of a ladder. Of course, this is accompanied by moving colored lights.

Christopher Bauder studied at the Berlin University of the Arts, and his installations have been exhibited all over the world. Dark Matter is his permanent exhibition space in Berlin. His art is also exhibited periodically at secret locations, the addresses of which you’ll only learn 48 hours in advance if you have a ticket.

At Dark Matter, there is a permanent exhibition called Kollektion. However, there are also special exhibitions that require a separate or combined ticket to view.

The museum is just a few stops away from Alexanderplatz by S-Bahn. The admission price is on the high side, but it’s worth the money because you can spend a long time at each installation.

Children are welcome, but the museum is not specifically designed for children. Please also be aware that some installations may trigger an epileptic seizure.
