Decades ago, someone immortalized Ben E. King’s classic ‘Stand By Me’ by carving the first verse of the song into a tree in Tiergarten, and the lyrics remain there to this day.
Someone carefully carved the first verse into the bark. It’s still clear and easy to sing along even after many years.

The exact date when the lyrics were carved into the tree remains unknown. However, after Ben E. King’s passing in 2015, the Stand By Me tree quickly became a popular tourist destination.
The simplest way to find the Stand By Me tree is to stroll along Großer Weg in Tiergarten until you reach the intersection with Große Sternallee. You’ll find the tree right at that spot.
